Had a lovely time on the tour, Chris was a wonderful guide, sharing a lot of interesting facts and adding in some extra sights along the drive. Communication and scheduling was easy and precise, I appreciated the punctuality.
The cave was simply amazing. Ticketing was easy. It was much easier to find with morning meeting location when we had an address and the name of the hotel rather than the GPS coordinates that were initially provided.
good snacks, very in detail explanations of the different sports and the cave itself.

The guied was lovely! She was really funny and kind, I think her name was Lane, she also explained very well! The woman that was taking photos was also very kind! She said some words in spanish (we speak spanish as our native language).
Our guide was great - I'd suggest improving the marketing as it was not clear that you had a good glow worm experience, which we had. The implication from web searches is that your tour is cave focused and the other cave is glow worms focused. I have done both and Ruakuri is much better.
Did this tour 40 years ago, was great to share it this time with my daughter, who doesn't usually like caves, but the whole experience from booking through to end of the trip was seamlessly good, just a pity we couldn't take photos of us both there, until we'd finished.
We are so happy that we booked the Down to Earth tour. This is a guided tour into a privately owned and essentially undeveloped glowworm cave. Not too hard but, in my opinion, not suitable for somebody with mobility issues or fear of tight spaces. Also, prepare to get wet ... but know that a full change of clothing is provided. My wife and I had been looking for a somewhat longer tour restricted to only a handful of participants, and Down to Earth delivered! Ash, who guided the tour, is a lot of fun. He is very knowledgeable, and it is clear that he loves what he does. The glowworm cave was amazing - I loved it. Ash told us to turn off our headlamps, and once our eyes adjusted the cave ceiling came "alive". I send the pictures that Ash took to my family, and they marvelled at the night sky of New Zealand! Of course I corrected them ... and now they too want to come and see the glowworms. One of my favourite experiences here in New Zealand. Thank you Ashley.
All went smoothly , Xavier was very informative. And an excellent guide thru the caves. The tour is very well set up for anyone to acccess.
The tour was great, although a few of the group thought there was not enough time in the cave with the glow worms, which is the main reason for the visit. Rex was awesome as a guide, but nervous for his first day but he was brilliant🙂🙂
Beautiful place . T - our guide was great! He was so patient with my elderly Mom trying to navigate her way through the dark caves to the boat. We learned so much about the caves .
A really informative and entertaining tour/trek. Ash was a very amicable guide and the interesting features were sympathetically introduced and described .
The tour and all staff were great. However we a an 18 month old child on our tour that yelled screamed for the entire tour. We were unable to hear the guides commentary a lot of the time and noise was extra loud in cave. Spoilt our entire experince
The cave experience was great and the guide was very interactive. Just that they at times joke with false facts so it gets confusing whether at times what they are speaking is truth or not.
George the guide was funny, warm and welcoming. He gave us enough information to be interesting and informative. The crying baby ruined the boat trip part however. I think they should be refused tickets not just advised against. Very frustrating to come from South Island for bucket list experience to have it wrecked by another's unrealistic selfishness. But again it was a treat to see the caves.
Great guide, lots of interesting information and was so great to finally see the glow worms and the wonderful caves. Highly rate this experience and strongly advise anyone coming to New Zealand to do this experience
Wonderful experience, friendly guide, adventurous climbing through rocks and water in dark cave. Gloworms were awesome.
This was an excellent tour and a surreal experience. My only regret is not being able to take pictures in the cave but I understand the reasoning.
Very clear and concise instructions and we weren't waiting long to see glow worms! Tato our guide was very funny and caring for the whole group. Lots of stories about the cave and glow worms. Safety was very clear and all instructions were delivered very clearly.
Joe did a great job as a guide. Unfortunately there was family with very small children and it was evidently nap time as one kept crying and screaming. Ignore my check above as I had to check something.
I really enjoyed the Raukuiri tour the most, but I do have to say it was very expensive, maybe offer a discount if people book more than 1 tour. Or better yet a discount to those who live in NZ as we were paying tourist prices to see our own Toanga
The activity itself was interesting. The only annoyance was that I couldn't change the date of my booking just minutes after I realized I filled in the wrong date. Consequently I lost my money. Thankfully Headout have me a 25% reduction on my next correct booking. Regretfully computers don't accept mistakes!
The caves literally are awesome. Particularly , and obviously, the cathedral and the gloworms. The guide did a great job. I last visited the caves over 50 years ago, so felt it was time to come back. I wasn't disappointed.
Amazing to see such natural features along with a great summary from Max our guide. Would have preferred to not have to download an app to complete the booking.
Ticketing was super simple and, when we arrived, everything went as smoothly! We loved our guide, T, and the easy going, generous and respectful way he taught us about the caves and the glowworms.
Ticketing was easy. Glow Worns were spectacular. Tour of the caves a bit dangerous. Better lighting on steps and stairs is needed. This comment comes from a retired lawyer who understands the civil liability issues.
Ticketing was easy and simple, everything flood smoothly from checking in. Copy brought meaning, detail, history, humor, and a caring experience!
The limestone caves were breathtaking and the boat ride in the dark under the glow worms was amazing. The tickets were a bit confusing as it had us all as infants when I said there was 2 adults and 2 children but they sorted it out
I had booked my tickets weeks before my planned trip for my 2 mokopuna ,Jackson 8 and Charlie 6. As it was the school holidays, booking is essential. I had booked for the Ruakuri cave as well as the Waitomo glowworm caves. My city slicker Moko thought that a walk of over an hour for the Ruakuri cave would be too much for them ...They were proven wrong. They were entranced from the start until the finish by the experience, and loved the commentry from our fastastic quide with his great sense of humour and knowledge. Thank you Wei. The other aspect of this cave walk is that it can accommadate people with physical disabilities.. Then we had our Glowworm cave experience. What a magical place. Again, we had a most wonderful empathetic quide who sang to us in the 'cathedral' and showed real generosity by allowing my young grandsons to sit at the front of the boat. Again many thanks to Cheryl. I was very impressed with the ammenities and the organisation of the Waitomo experience. As a Dutch Kiwi I felt very proud to be a NZder, a visitor in my own country. I would highly recommend everyone to take the time to experience this wonderful Taonga. Nga mihi nu, Willy kloeten

This was an unbelievable experience. The glow worms were very cool to see, but more notably, we had a great group and excellent guides! I was a bit worried my mother would struggle but the guides did a great job helping her! The chauffeur they provided to the rafting sight was very comfy, and their entire staff was welcoming and made it a worthwhile trip!
My partner and I had a great time doing this! I’m somewhat apprehensive when it comes to water (especially in the dark) but really wanted to do something different to see the glow worms and I’m so glad I did. Felt completely safe the whole time and had great fun. Definitely recommend.
Excellent tour with excellent guides Hannah and Katie. Despite being in our sixties and a little nervous ( although reasonably fit) we had a great afternoon. The guides explained everything and were attentive and watchful and we felt in safe competent hands. The highlight was floating through the black caves seeing the vivid glowworm show above us.
Really good guides, I felt safe the whole time! Small group! Nice hot showers and a hot soulmate the end of the Tori:) Git nice pictures!
The experience was amazing. Super friendly tour guides and the caves were stunning, such a cool little adventure and the best way to see the glowworms
The black abyss tour was absolutely incredible! For something that I'd been looking forward to for so long it's surprising that it actually exceeded expectations. The staff were all fabulous and accommodating even when we were late to the location. It doesn't hurt that our guides George and Mitch were also 🔥.
The whole experience was awesome. My son from Australia also loved it. The hliwworm show was way better than I remembered from the last time I did it.
The guides were not only knowledgeable but they were also so much fun! We had a very small group and they adapted the tour to fit what we would most enjoy and took a lot of amazing pictures! The Blackwater rafting itself was so much fun, even in the winter! Exploring caves, jumping into the water, and floating through the darkness, our guides made us feel safe the whole time. Thank you, Burge and Lydia!
The whole experience was super fun and insanely enjoyable. The guides were brilliant, the caves amazing and everything was great. Highly recommend
One of the best things i've ever done in NZ. Such a unique experience and amazing friendly instructors we had such a good time!
Brilliant adventure under the ground. Very well looked after, the peaceful moments drifting underneath glowworms were amazing.
Booking in was simple and quick. The girls at the front desk could smile and engage a little more.😁 As I don't spend many days in caves the experience was amazing. The tour guides were engaging and very informative, 10/10 for them.
This experience was really great. The supervisors and all the staff are very welcoming and friendly. We spent a lovely afternoon with them and the scenery is unique. However, I wouldn't recommend this activity for people looking for strong sensations.
The guid was awesome! The experience too!
The guides were great at communicating whilst keeping the tour fun. Hands down one of the best experiences I've had!
Awesome guides and really fun adventure!!
The guides were so much fun and made it so I felt comfortable and safe pushing myself out of my comfort zone.
George and Mitch were amazing and super funny. We had such a great time. Thanks!
Awesome experience with professional but fun guides

Ash was a fantastic guide for our adventure through the caves, we loved every part of this and would highly recommend to anyone wanting more than just a easy path tour to see glow worms 10/10
It was a one-of-a-kind tour. Ashley was very knowledgeable and funny! It was great to explore the caves with a small group of adventure lovers. And Ashley took such great pictures of us. I made friends and saw breathtaking glowworm caves, what more could you I ask for? I really made memories that will last for a lifetime. I highly recommend.
This was awesome great guide small group under and over boulders as we went deep into the cave, stalactites and stalagmites and the glow worms it was a bit challenging but lots of fun.
We liked that we weren't rushed. We also liked that we got to go caving. It was a unique and fun experience.
Amazing experience, very experienced and funny tourist gentleman, keeping up laughing along 👍
Loved everything 👌 was a great experience
Amazing experience! Great guide too!
Lots of fun and a mini adventure
Awesome trip👌 wonderful experience
